BOHUSLAV HORAK

metal garden

Three years after the first Italian solo exhibition of the designer Bohuslav Horak during the Salone del Mobile 1996 in Milan, Anthologie Quartet shows the first major solo exhibition of the Czech designer as part of the passages program of the international furniture fair in Cologne.

His 'fantastic design', as Alessandro Mendini calls Horak's furniture and objects in the international design yearbook, shows that in addition to the omnipresent (no longer so new) simplicity, other 'fantastic' tendencies also characterized design at the end of the 20th century .

Bohuslav Horak (*1954 in Pardubice, Czech Republic) was one of the outstanding representatives of new European design even before the borders were opened. Since then, his unmistakable, fairytale-like objects with the color gradations so typical of him have been created in his workshop near Prague. None of his objects leave his workshop without him reworking their color again; Even in his small series, no two pieces are alike.
