KARL FRIEDRICH SCHINKEL
iron objects

The architect and painter Karl Friedrich Schinkel is considered the most important personality of classicist architecture in Germany.

However, his designs for objects and furniture made of cast iron are still relatively unknown, although his work is linked in many ways to this then very modern technology.

At the beginning of the 19th century, Schinkel designed, in addition to iron jewelry, a wealth of accessories made of cast iron such as candlesticks, bowls, boxes and table centerpieces, which made up the avant-garde of classicist crafts.
